PTO Events

The PTO conducts events throughout the year to build a stronger community and raise funds to support Hardy curricular and technological enrichments, classroom needs and much, much more!  We depend on each and every family to support these events throughout the year to the extent you can.  Support can come in many forms, including funds, attending events, and volunteerism.  We look forward to seeing you and your families at many events this year!

PTO Annual Appeal Fundraising Drive, September – The support shown by the parent community during the PTO Annual Appeal is the primary building block for a financially successful year.  We ask that parents participate to the extent that they are able to do so.   This year we are striving for 100% participation.

Fall Fling, September 23 – Join us for this early evening event.  Our annual Fall Fling has been re-invented to make-up for the rained out Beach Party last June.  Come enjoy an obstacle course, a giant slide, a disc jockey and pizza.  We encourage all in the Hardy community, and neighbors and friends, to come and enjoy a Fall evening with old and new friends!  Then stay tuned for our traditional Hardy Beach Party -- June 2012!!

Fall Book Fair, TBD– The Book Fair is an annual fundraiser at Hardy, as it is at most all elementary schools across the country.  Children will visit the Book Fair during class/library time and have the opportunity to make purchases at designated times during the school day.  In addition, the Book Fair committee will host a “Family Night” which will feature book shopping (of course!), guest readers, and games.  Every purchase at the Book Fair helps support our school and encourages a love of reading.  Look for opportunites to purchase Book Fair "Gift Certificates" for your child, your child's teacher, and others!

Photo Session, October 15 & 16– We will continue our very popular and successful new fundraiser, initiated in 2009, for family photos.  This is a wonderful fundraiser that provides a great service to Hardy families (all of your photos are provided to you on a compact disc so that you can have them printed on your own with no copyright restrictions!) while also generating proceeds for Hardy, all at a cost to families that is significantly less than what we would pay elsewhere.

Apparel and Car Magnet Sales, October/November – Wearing Hardy apparel and sporting a Hardy car magnet are great ways to show school spirit, and doing so is a great tradition at our school!  At Hardy, apparel sales have historically not been treated as a fundraiser.  The theory behind this is that spirit wear should be made as economically attainable as possible, so as to facilitate widespread participation among the students.  We agree with this approach and will follow suit this year.  So, when an apparel form comes home in your child’s backpack, please remember that this is not a fundraiser.  It is simply an opportunity to buy some great Hardy gear at a cost that has been made as reasonable as possible without the PTO incurring a loss.

Winter Skating Party, February – We pay a fee to rent out Babson Skating Arena, play some great music, and give children and parents the opportunity to skate away!  Some are beginners, some are more experienced, and at this past year’s event both groups skated beautifully together and helped one another.  There is a small fee to skate, with a family cap.   If well attended and the fee paid to Babson is covered, any additional proceeds benefit the PTO.

Movie Nights – We turn the gym into a movie theater, charge no admission fee, and offer pizza and drinks at a nominal cost.  It’s a fun way to enjoy a movie with old and new friends!  In the past we have done one Movie Night but this year we may do two.

Beach Party, June – The Beach Party is our town wide celebration and a very important fundraising event.   It is fun for the students, fun for the parents, and fun for family and friends!  There are several ways for each and every family to contribute to the success of the Hardy Beach Party, such as volunteering for a “shift” at one of the games or simply coming out on June 11th and supporting the event!
